Regular Rotation of Serbian Armed Forces Unit in UN Mission in Lebanon
The unit of the Serbian Armed Forces from the Training Command, which was deployed to United Nations peacekeeping operation in Lebanon last year in October, has returned to the Republic of Serbia following a successful completion of their engagement in the mission.
In previous six months, this unit - a force protection platoon - was engaged on the tasks of securing the base, which accommodates the Italian contingent of United Nations international force.
As their predecessors in this mission, the members of the Serbian Armed Forces performed all the tasks in complex security conditions professionally and responsibly thus justifying in the best possible manner the reputation of Serbian soldiers and Serbian Armed Forces in international environment.
The rotation of the Serbian force protection platoon was carried out this week in Lebanon, with the attendance of the Italian contingent Commander, and, at the ceremony held on that occasion, the members of the Serbian Armed Forces received United Nations medals for successful participation in the mission. In next six months, another unit from the Training command will be engaged on the same tasks in this Middle-Eastern country. The unit was deployed to the area of operation early this month.
The Serbian Armed Forces have been participating in United Nations peacekeeping mission in Lebanon since 2010. Apart from the force protection platoon, the Serbian Armed Forces deploy to this operation an infantry unit, staff officers in the mission command and a group of specialist officers tasked to provide support to our contingent.
