Chief of Serbian Armed Forces General Staff visits France
The Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, is paying an official visit to the French Republic, at the invitation of the Chief of the Defence Staff of the French Armed Forces, Army General Thierry Burkhard.
The two-day visit began with the laying of a wreath and a welcoming ceremony organized for the Serbian Armed Forces delegation at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defence and the French Armed Forces in Paris, followed by official meetings.The talks between the two delegations and the meeting between generals Mojsilović and Burkhard centred on regional and global security situation, cooperation between the Serbian and French armed forces so far and opportunities for its further enhancement.
It was agreed that in the period to come, the Serbian and French armed forces should continue strenghtening the established cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, primarily in training and education.
In the continuation of his visit, General Mojsilović met with the French Defence Minister, Sébastien Lecornu, with whom he discussed further development of defence cooperation and modalities for improving cooperation in the sphere of military economy. General Mojsilović said that the Republic of Serbia was pursuing a balanced defence policy, aiming to strengthen national, regional and global security, and respecting the principle of territorial integrity and independence of all states, as well as the principle of military neutrality.During the talks, both sides agreed that defence cooperation was developed, comprehensive and intensive, and expressed their expectation that the trend towards strengthening the overall bilateral relations would continue.
On the first day of the visit, the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff was presented with the capabilities, missions and organization of the Special Operations Command and Centre for Planning and Conduct of Operations. The Serbian Armed Forces delegation’s visit to France ends tomorrow with a tour of the Mont-de-Marsan Air Base (BA 118).
