Tank units undergo training
Professional members and soldiers performing voluntary military service in tank units are undergoing intensive training in the combat use of M-84 tanks.
During the training, which is taking place in the areas where the units are stationed, on the training grounds and exercise areas of the Serbian Armed Forces, the soldiers and professional members are preparing for the duties they will perform in armoured units, according to their military occupational specialties. Concurrently, the tank crews are upgrading their skills in performing tasks assigned to them.Tank crews are expected to master all tactical procedures used in offensive and defensive combat actions such as driving a tank on different types of terrain, using the weapons efficiently and maintaining the systems and sub-systems of this complex fighting vehicle.
During the upcoming stages in their training, the tank crews will be required to perform familiarization fire and firing practices, followed by tactical exercises and live fire drills where their tactical and firearms skills will be tested, as well as the effectiveness of training.
The M-84 tank is the principal combat asset of Army brigades’ tank battalions which, thanks to their mobility, strike force and armoured protection, play a critical role in SAF combat operations. Due to continuous training, all crews are able to reach the required training standards, and armoured units are able to achieve a high level of combat readiness.
