Meeting between State Secretary Starović and Head of ICRC Regional Delegation
State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Nemanja Starović met with Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Regional Delegation in Serbia, Jelena Stijačić.
State Secretary Starović welcomed Ms Stijačić and said that Serbia attached great importance to cooperation with all international organizations, including the International Committee of the Red Cross. According to him, Serbia advocates compliance with international humanitarian law and cooperation with this organization is important for the continuation of reform processes, which is particularly important for achieving the strategic goal of our country - progress towards full EU membership.During the conversation, State Secretary Starović expressed his gratitude for the assistance of the International Committee of the Red Cross during the 2014 floods in Serbia, as well as for providing assistance to refugees and migrants transiting through our country. State Secretary Starović said that the Ministry of Defence would continue to support the work of the ICRC Regional Delegation.
Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Regional Delegation Stijačić thanked State Secretary Starović for the welcome and informed him about the structure and activities of that organization in the Republic of Serbia and the region, highlighting the issue of the legal status of missing persons, and the efforts of this organization to speed up the resolution of this issue.
She said that the International Committee of the Red Cross had excellent cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Serbia and thanked the Ministry of Defence for supporting the work of that organization.
