Visit by delegation from Republic of Angola
A delegation from the Republic of Angola, led by Minister of State and Head of the Security Affairs Office to the Presidency, Army General Francisco Pereira Furtado, is paying an official visit to the Republic of Serbia.
State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Nemanja Starović has met with the Angolan delegation to discuss ways to improve defence cooperation between the two countries.
According to him, the visit from Minister of State Furtado is of great importance for the further strengthening of cooperation and confirmation of the decades-long friendship between the two countries. State Secretary Starović said that Serbia and Angola were bound by historical ties and relations, which were based on mutual respect and traditional friendship established in the period of the former SFRY and the Non-Aligned Movement membership.
He stressed the importance of good bilateral relations between the two countries, particularly in the field of defence. State Secretary Starović also emphasized the importance of regular meetings of the Serbia-Angola Committee on Defence Cooperation, which contribute to the improvement in relations and the position of Serbian companies on the Angolan market.
Minister of State Furtado thanked State Secretary Starović for the warm welcome and expressed determination to further strengthen defence cooperation. He said that Angola highly valued friendly relations with Serbia and stressed that the achievements and partnerships established so far, as well as future joint projects, would contribute to the development of overall bilateral relations, particularly in the field of defence.
As part of the visit, the Angolan delegation also attended a demonstration of the capabilities and characteristics of weapons and military equipment produced by the Serbian defence industry at the "Nikinci" testing range.
