Bilateral talks on defence cooperation with Republic of Türkiye
Bilateral talks between the delegations from the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of National Defence and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Türkiye, led by Head of the International Cooperation Department, Colonel Nebojša Svjetlica, and Head of International Relations Department, Brigadier General Tansel Çokuysal, have been held at the Ministry of Defence.
The Turkish delegation has also been received by Assistant Minister for Defence Policy, Predrag Bandić, who noted that good political relations between the two countries could contribute to improving future cooperation in the area of defence industry. He also said that fostering and further strengthening of bilateral relations required dedication and goodwill, and meetings like this were the best indicator and means to that end.
Colonel Svjetlica said that this meeting, three years after the previous talks in Ankara, was an excellent opportunity to exchange views on current topics and issues of mutual interest in a constructive dialogue, analyze the cooperation so far and launch initiatives for new or existing areas of cooperation.
General Çokuysal agreed that bilateral talks were an excellent opportunity to define future directions of defence cooperation and expressed his expectation that this meeting would further strengthen and improve relations between Serbia and Türkiye based on mutual understanding and cooperation.
At the meeting, the 2023 Bilateral Military Cooperation Program was signed.
