Talks on defence cooperation with Republic of Cyprus
A delegation from the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, led by Assistant Minister for Defence Policy Predrag Bandić, has paid a visit to the Republic of Cyprus.
The Serbian delegation was received by the Chief of the Cypriot National Guard, Lieutenant General Dimokritos Zervakis. On that occasion, views were exchanged on the current political and security situation in the Western Balkans, the Eastern Mediterranean and beyond, and prospects for defence cooperation between the two countries were assessed.
During the visit, Assistant Minister Bandić met with Head of Defence Policy and International Affairs at the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus, Constantinos Constantinou, on which occasion both men expressed satisfaction with the development of defence cooperation in 2022.
During the bilateral defence consultations with the Cypriot National Guard delegation led by Colonel Loukas Hadjiconstantas, defence cooperation was discussed and activities for the upcoming year were agreed upon. It was also highlighted that holding regular bilateral defence consultations was important for deciding on directions of future cooperation and making it more concrete.
The 2023 Bilateral Military Cooperation Programme, which provides opportunities for further improvement in defence cooperation, was signed by Head of the Department for International Military Cooperation, Colonel Nebojša Svjetlica, on behalf of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, and by Colonel Loucas Hadjiconstantas, on behalf of the Cypriot National Guard.
