SAF members attending staff courses in Greece celebrate St. Nicolas Day
Members of the Serbian Armed Forces attending staff courses in the Hellenic Republic have celebrated Saint Nicolas Day in a traditional way.
Major Branislav Ignjatović, who is currently doing the Command and Staff Course in Greece, has celebrated his family’s patron saint’s day in a traditional way with “slava bread” and a candle. SAF’s Chief Military Chaplain, Lieutenant Colonel Slađan Vlajić, who is also in Greece for the General Staff Course, as well as officers of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, also attended the celebration and the “slava bread” cutting ceremony.
Major Ignjatović’s colleagues from the Hellenic and Cypriot Armed Forces joined him in celebrating Saint Nicolas Day. This and similar examples show that members of the Serbian Armed Forces proudly preserve their national tradition and culture, even when thousands of kilometres away from their homeland.
