President Vučić in Nikinci: We are accelerating the modernisation of the Serbian Armed Forces

Today, the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević and Chief of General Staff of Serbian Armed Forces General Milan Mojsilović, attended a demonstration of capabilities of land and aerial unmanned platforms in the Arms and military equipment test centre in Nikinci.

Today’s demonstration was an opportunity to present Draft Strategy for the Robotisation of the Serbian Armed Forces, which includes plans for development and equipping with modern assets. The document, apart from the assets presented today, encompasses and envisages the development of many other systems in the upcoming period.

President of the Republic Aleksandar Vučić expressed his satisfaction with equipment presented in Nikinci today, and he announced accelerated modernisation of the Serbian Armed Forces.

- You have seen something that you could not have seen in our country before, and this is the first time that we have seen the “Obad”, and “Vrabac” and “Pegasus” which guided our “Eagles” which unmistakeably hit their targets. Now we can shoot both by day and night with very high precision. We are at the same time trying to develop our unmanned aerial vehicles in cooperation with private sector, meaning with several companies, but our Military Technical Institute is already coming out with new solutions as well as the Technical Test Centre - President Vučić stated.

He expressed his satisfaction with shooting results of “Small Miloš” which hit their targets from rocket launcher “Zolja”.

- We have to work quickly, and we have to make progress because it is important that we are able to protect our country always and in every moment, and to be able to preserve it, and lose as few lives as possible. In line with that, we are accelerating our modernisation - Vučić stated.

He expressed his expectation that “Utva” would start serial production of unmanned aerial vehicles from April of the following year.

- We have ordered many “kamikaze” drones, and now we will start making them, and I trust that, with the private sector and with all others, we will be able, if everything is tightened up, and fixed, to establish a good cooperation and good job for our armed forces - the president of the Republic explained.

At the training area “Nikinci” the state and military leadership observed the synergy of remotely piloted aircraft and the aircraft with crews, as well as the action of unmanned Army systems in use in the Serbian Armed Forces. Systems under development were also presented, which are the product of work of the experts from the Military Technical Institute done in cooperation with national defence companies and private companies from that sector.

Today’s demonstration included: a flyby and firing from modernised aeroplane “Orao” in conjunction with the remotely piloted aircraft “Pegasus”, firing from unmanned platform “Miloš V1” armed with a rocket launcher 64mm “Zolja”, 72mm machine gun and 40mm revolver grenade launcher, unmanned platform “Miloš V2” armed with 12.7mm machine gun and 90mm rocket launcher “Osa”, drone “Obad” with 64mm four-barrel rocket launcher “Zolja”, drone IKA-20 with 60mm revolver mortar, drone IKA-20 with rocket launcher “Osa”, action of anti-aircraft self-propelled artillery-missile system PASARS - 16 with electronically timed 40mm ammunition against drone imitations, as well reconnaissance done by remotely piloted aircraft “Pegasus”.

Static display of the demonstration included “Alas” missile, unmanned aircraft-kamikaze drone “Gavran 145”, unmanned aerial vehicle “Vrabac” armed with 40mm grenades and three variants of drones IK-20 for different uses and types of armament, as well as a little kamikaze drone IKA-KAM.
