Observance of military holidays



Today, the Serbian Armed Forces held military celebrations to mark the 63rd Parachute Brigade Day, the Military Paratroopers’ Day and the Second Training Centre Day.
The 63rd Parachute Brigade Day and the Military Paratroopers’ Day, observed in memory of October 14, 1944, when the First Parachute Battalion of the Yugoslav People’s Liberation Army was formed in a military base near Bari, Italy, were celebrated at the “Sergeant-Pilot Mihajlo Petrović“ military airfield in Niš today.

To mark the holiday, the ceremonial formation of Brigade members was lined up, work accomplishments over the past period were summarized and the most deserving individuals were given awards. 
The review of accomplishments achieved emphasized a high degree of training, professionalism and dedication of members of the 63rd Parachute Brigade, which they demonstrated in the execution of all assigned tasks, thus contributing to the improvement of operational capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces and confirming that they rightfully belonged to this elite Serbian Armed Forces unit.

Members of the 63rd Parachute Brigade also observed the unit’s St. Patron’s Day - the Intercession of the Holy Virgin, which has been observed by this unit since 2002.

A military ceremony was also held at the “Field Marshal Živojin Mišić” barracks in Valjevo, to mark the Second Training Centre Day, which is observed in memory of October 15, 1918, when the Serbian Army liberated Valjevo.  
At the ceremony, awards were presented to the most deserving individuals, wreaths were laid at the memorial located in the barracks and the unit’s accomplishments were summarized, emphasizing that over the past year, the Centre had successfully carried out all tasks in accordance with the unit’s purpose.
