Minister Stefanović Congratulates Military Athletes on Achieved Results



Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović PhD congratulated on the fourth place taken by a team of the Military Grammar School and the second place won by the team “Nemanjića Orlovi” which consists of former and present members of the Military Academy, at the hurdle race “Tribalion”. On that occasion, Stefanović visited our athletes on the Zlatibor Mountain, and at the same time he wished all the best to Sergeant Đuro Borbelj who had triumphed in the race “1300 Corporals” in Aranđelovac, expressing his hope that the sergeant will continue breaking his personal records.
“Our brave and brilliant boys and girls take every opportunity they can to make us proud!” Some 1300 competitors participated in an extremely strong competition, in the hurdle race “Tribalion” held on the Zlatibor Mountain, at the track “Green”. Our young hopes, the team of the Military Grammar School that consisted of Lav Stojanović, Aleksa Mikić. Stefan Novković, Luka Vidrić and Filip Gogić, won the fourth place in the team ranking, while the team “Nemanjića Orlovi” took the second place” wrote the minister on his Facebook profile.

He stated that under the responsibility of Lieutenant Colonel Negovan Ivanković PhD, the two teams had participated on behalf of military schools, and that the team “Nemanjića Orlovi” consisted of former and present members of the Military Academy who were members of sport club of military all-around event: reserve second lieutenants Slađan Vujašanin and Saša Radenković, cadet of the 147th Class of the Military Academy Dejan Petrović and a student of the 50th Class of the Military Vocational High School “1300 Corporals” Jovan Gavrilović.

“With this excellent race they paid a special homage to the Military Academy and the promotion of the youngest officers in second lieutenant ranks. With their achieved results, the former and present members of the all-around event team of the Military Academy offered their congratulations in the most beautiful way to their dear colleagues, and they showed a rather high level of physical preparedness of the present and future officers of the Serbian Armed Forces - of which we are all proud! And I had to tell them that in person!”, the minister stated.
Apart from the results achieved in the “Tribalion”, Sergeant Đuro Borbelj triumphed in 10,000m race named “1300 Corporals” held in Aranđelovac in the framework of the Championship of Serbia for male and female seniors, organised by the Athletics Federation of Serbia. The member of the Serbian Armed Forces run the mentioned race in 30 minutes and 55 seconds and set a new personal record and the track record, surpassing his last-year’s result in the same race, when he had also been decorated by the shiniest medal.

“I am pleased by winning the third senior champion title in 2022, following the tile won in semi-marathon and 5000 metres race.  As a member of the Serbian Armed Forces, I am particularly proud because I won in the race titled “1,300 Corporals”, since it is a symbol of sacrificing for the freedom of one’s country and people”, Borbelj said.
