Minister Stefanović Congratulates Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović PhD extended congratulation on the occasion of the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag and reminded that our forefathers had bequeathed free Serbia and their experience that we can do anything if we are united.
“We crushed every resistance of our enemy, and then advanced in a march that no force could have stopped, and we were drawn by immeasurable desire to reach our birthplace as soon as possible”. These were the words of one of Thessaloniki front warriors to describe 15th September 1918. The order stated “move forward audaciously to the final limits of capabilities of human strength, with unwavering will and faith in God”. It was a feat of Serbia army which marked the beginning of the end of the Great War, as the contemporaries called the breach of the Thessaloniki front. The world admired the tough, sober, modest, and free people, unbreakable, the most persevering soldiers in the fight for freedom. Our ancestors”, Minister Stefanović stated.He reminded that they left us a legacy of free Serbia, which they won with great sacrifice and at a high price.
“Therefore, do not permit that your children forget the Thessaloniki front warriors who built their lives in the freedom of Serbia. Do not let them forget that they are born in the fatherland of Živojin Mišić, Stepa Stepanović, Petar Bojović and other warriors whose greatness and skills were and are respected by entire world. Let us not forget that they left us their experience which says that we can do all if we are united. Today, united we celebrate the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag in their honour”, the minister of defence stated.
