SAF members provide humanitarian assistance in Central African Republic
Members of the Serbian contingent in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) have provided humanitarian assistance to the Mother and Child Centre in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic.
Our staff officers and role 2+ military hospital staff have made a donation consisting of basic necessities to the residents of this institution (children under the age of 5), thus continuing the tradition of the previous Serbian contingents participating in this mission.
This donation is another in a series of humanitarian assistance projects that members of the Serbian Armed Forces participating in peacekeeping operations, traditionally carry out, both in the country where they are deployed and in the Republic of Serbia after returning from a mission. Besides being humanitarian in nature, these projects help build up mutual trust between members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the local residents.
The Serbian Armed Forces started their participation in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic in 2014 by deploying medical and non-medical personnel, and besides the role 2+ military field hospital staff, our members are deployed there as staff officers and military observers. The Serbian military hospital, which has been fully autonomous and self-sustaining for two years now, provides primary and secondary care for United Nations personnel, emergency surgical and other interventions, basic dental care and MEDIVAC.
