Zastava Film’s documentary awarded at Italian festival
The documentary “Soldiers’ Romances Forever”, co-produced by “Zastava Film“ Military Film Centre (Public Relations Department, Ministry of Defence) and “Optimistic Film“, has received the Best Director Award at the recently held film festival in Naples, Italy.
The film producer and the director of “Zastava Film“ Military Film Centre, Colonel Goran Ikonić, said that he was proud of the success this film had achieved at numerous festivals, both at home and abroad.
- The awards we have won in Serbia, Turkey, England and now in Italy show that the film “Soldiers’ Romances Forever” is a universal story, relatable and familiar to other nations too, not just us. We are also happy that Europe has not lost the feeling of empathy for military life and soldiers, who have been a symbol of honour, morality and strength of many nations and countries, including Serbia, throughout history - said Colonel Ikonić.
The documentary “Soldiers’ Romances Forever“ is a timeless story about the search for love and the meaning of life by young soldiers twenty years ago and nowadays.
- After obtaining my Bachelor of Arts degree in Film and TV Directing and completing my basic training, I continued my military service in "Zastava Film". We soon made a documentary called "Soldiers’ Romances", a story about my friends with whom I served the first part of my military service. These were young men with different destinies, from different parts of former Yugoslavia, immediately after the bombing in 1999. More than twenty years later, I decided to look for the men with whom I broke bread in the military, actors of the “Soldiers’ Romances” and make another film about them after so many years - said the film director, Željko Mirković.
The film “Soldiers’ Romances Forever” previously won a Grand Prix at the 17th International Documentary Film Festival "Zlatna Buklija" (Golden Flask) in Velika Plana, the Best Documentary Award at a film festival in Turkey, and the Best Director Award at a film festival in London.
