Minister Stefanović Meets Representatives of SUBNOR
Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović PhD met representatives of the Alliance of the Associations of Former Fighters of People’s Liberation Wars (SUBNOR) with whom he discussed the results of previous and plans for the future cooperation of the Alliance with the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces.
Minister Stefanović underlined that SUBNOR is of singular importance for the preservation of the legacy of antifascist fight of our people. He also stated that “the Ministry will always, in line with its capabilities, provide support to SUBNOR in the realisation of their activities.”
“SUBNOR is important for Serbia, which must never let it be forgotten that it has always been on the right side of history, and that we suffered immense sacrifice for freedom, and we must never forget Serbia’s resolute orientation against hatred and evil. That is something that we must be proud of, just like I am of my fighters”, the minister said.
President of SUBNOR retired Major General Vidosav Kovačević expressed gratitude to Minister Stefanović for the support, and expressed hope that the cooperation between that Alliance and the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces would, in the future, contribute to common goals important for our country.
The delegation of the Alliance of the Associations of Former Fighters of People’s Liberation Wars consisted of the President of SUBNOR, retired Major General Vidosav Kovačević, member of the SUBNOR Presidency, retired pilot Colonel Zoran Jakovljević, and a member of SUBNOR and President of the Jasenovac Camp Inmates' Association Slavko Milovanović.
At the end of the meeting, they gave appropriate gifts to Minister Stefanović as a sign of gratitude for the support and personal engagement in the preservation of antifascist traditions.
