Serbian national military team wins 13th CISM Futsal Cup for Peace
The Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces team is the winner of the 13th CISM Futsal Cup for Peace, which was held from June 20 to 24 in the SPENS Sports and Business Centre, Novi Sad. The tournament, which was officially closed today, was organized by the Serbian Delegation to the International Military Sports Council (CISM). In addition to the home team, military teams from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, North Macedonia and Montenegro took part in the traditional military sports event.
In the last, decisive match, Serbia played Bosnia and Herzegovina. After a 1:1 draw at half time, Serbian military team secured a 3:2 victory, winning the tournament with the maximum number of points.The silver medal went to Bosnia and Herzegovina, whereas the Montenegrin national team won the bronze. Slovenia took fourth place and the North Macedonian team finished the tournament fifth.
The tournament ended with a closing ceremony. First Army Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Zoran Nasković, official representative of the International Military Sports Council Colonel Richard Emeh, CISM Futsal Delegate Colonel Nevzat Varol, CISM Sports Director Lieutenant Colonel Jan van den Dool, and Acting Head of the Serbian Delegation to CISM, Lieutenant Colonel Negovan Ivanković, PhD, awarded trophies and medals to the best teams, as well as participants’ medals.
Matej Lukić from the national military team of Bosnia and Herzegovina won the tournament’s best goalkeeper award, and the trophy was presented to him by Captain Ljubiša Marković. The best goal scorers at the tournament are Montenegro’s Luka Marković and Serbia’s Aleksa Pešić, and the cups were awarded to them by Lieutenant Colonel Jan van den Dool. Aleksa Pešić also won the 13th CISM Futsal Cup for Peace best player award, which was presented to him by Colonel Nevzat Varol, accompanied by our celebrated national team member Miloš Krasić.The official representative of the International Military Sports Council, Colonel Richard Emeh, said that the tournament was marked by collaboration, sportsmanship, and most importantly, friendship.
- CISM will continue to make efforts to contribute, through sports, to peace building and overcoming the differences that could divide us. I would like to thank the delegations representing the armed forces of the nations gathered at this event and congratulate you all on your commitment to sport and peace, and on the discipline you have shown during the event. Rest assured that the CISM world is really proud of you. The four days of sports and cultural activities in Serbia have been fascinating - said the official representative of the International Military Sports Council and expressed his gratitude to the host country, the organizing committee and heads of delegations, the referees and players for their outstanding performance.Colonel Emeh, then officially declared the 13the CISM Futsal for Cup Peace closed.
At the closing ceremony, Acting Head of the Serbian Delegation to CISM, Lieutenant Colonel Ivanković, presented letters of thanks to the associates who helped organize the cup: the First Army Brigade, the Military Academy, the Public Relations Department (Ministry of Defence), the Youth of Vojvodina, the City of Novi Sad, the Provincial Institute for Sports and Sports Medicine of Vojvodina, the Tourist Organization of Vojvodina, the Tourist Organization of the City of Novi Sad, “Vojvodina – SPENS” Sports and Business Centre, Hotel "Putnik", the Football Association of Novi Sad, the "Folklorika" Association, Novi Sad, and the "Professor Bolesnikov" Football Club from Novi Sad.
