Minister Stefanović awards Order of Merit in Defence to hero of Battle of Košare
By a decree issued by the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, has awarded the Order of Merit in Defence and Security, 1st Class, to Sergeant Major Saša Radojević, on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of the end of the Battle of Košare.
- I have the honour of presenting you, on behalf of President Vučić, with a decoration for everything you did as Deputy Commander of the “Košare” outpost at the most difficult time for our country, alongside your soldiers serving in the border battalion. It is something that Serbia is proud of and will never forget, and for which you have been awarded the Order of Merit by the President. It goes to the right person, and I am really glad that we have such a brave man in our ranks – said Minister Steafanović. He also said he was proud of the fact that today we can speak openly about the Battle of Košare and take pride in our heroes, unlike in the past. Sergeant Major Radojević thanked President Vučić and Minister Stefanović for the decoration, but primarily for showing respect for the Battle of Košare and the sacrifice made by those who had been killed in Košare.
- This is not a decoration that I personally earned, we all earned it in the battle and I really think that all participants in the Battle of Košare will be happy with it - said Sergeant Major Radojević, who was Deputy Commander of the “Košare” outpost and stayed in the position, together with his men, for the entire duration of this heroic battle – 67 days.Today’s ceremony was attended by Assistant Minister for Human Resources Katarina Tomašević and Deputy Director of the Military Intelligence Agency, Colonel Dejan Pajić.
