Live firings against aerial targets
Members of the Army and Air Defence artillery-missile units conducted live firings against aerial targets last week.
The firings were conducted at "Pasuljanske Livade" Training Ground using the "Strela-2M" missile system and modernized 40mm "Bofors" anti-aircraft gun. The aim was to evaluate the professional members’ ability to use these short-range missile systems in combat and engage aerial targets efficiently.
The operators and crews managed to hit all intended targets, thus demonstrating that they are highly competent for destroying and neutralizing aerial targets at short distances.
Live firings were preceded by thorough individual preparations at parent units, as well as firings for training and evaluation purposes executed at "Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlović" Military Airfield in Batajnica.
Live firings against aerial targets are the most important segment of training in air defence units, and the excellent results scored are proof that they are well-trained and ready to provide direct air protection to SAF troops during military operations.
The live firings at "Pasuljanske livade" were attended by the Army Commander, Lieutenant General Milosav Simović and the Air Force and Air Defence Commander, Lieutenant General Duško Žarković.
