Minister Stefanović: Voluntary military service in 72nd Brigade only for the best

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, has visited the 72nd Special Operations Brigade today, where he observed the training received by soldiers performing their voluntarily military service in this unit. According to Minister Stefanović, the fact that these young soldiers have been selected to serve in the 72nd Brigade is proof that they are the best of the best.
The Minister of Defence was welcomed to Pančevo’s "Rastko Nemanjić" barracks by the Commander of the 72nd Brigade, Brigadier General Miroslav Talijan, PhD, who briefed him about the current situation and activities undertaken by the unit. Following this, volunteers led by instructors demonstrated training in countering terrorism in urban areas.
- Any contact with the people serving in the 72nd Brigade is a privilege. Every day I have spent with this unit was an opportunity for me to learn something new, to learn more about the military profession and love for Serbia. Strong patriotism and love for our country are the key things in this unit, they can really be felt here - said Stefanović.

The Minister noted that young men and women working in the 72nd Brigade were the best trained service members in our country and that this was one of the most elite units in this part of Europe.
- Today, I’ve had the opportunity and honour to see young men performing their voluntary military service in this unit. Twenty two young men from all over Serbia have come to this unit to serve their country on voluntary basis. They have expressed their wish to stay in this unit as professional soldiers once they complete their six-month voluntary military service and to continue their careers in the elite 72nd Brigade, and we will see if they will succeed in doing so - said Stefanović.
The Minister said he was satisfied with the progress achieved in equipping the 72nd Brigade.

- The brigade now has 20 of our most modern Miloš combat vehicles. They also use the Kornet anti-tank missile, the most modern infantry weapons, and in addition to the ballistic equipment and the best uniforms in our military that every member of this unit has, it is a significant step forward in terms of quality. Our task is to help them provide more equipment and build the infrastructure facilities they lack, so that their base in Pančevo would become one of the most modern bases - said Stefanović.

He thanked the brigade commander, Brigadier General Talijan, saying that he was the driving force behind this unit.
  - As the unit commander, he always shows understanding towards every member of the unit and makes sure they can fulfil every task entrusted to them by President Vučić and our country. He also devotes attention to training, equipment and everything else that makes these guys the best in our country. I want to thank them all once again for everything they do. For them, there is no break, no rain or snow, no difference between day and night,
there are only duties that they perform flawlessly - said the Minister of Defence.
At the end of the visit, Brigadier General Miroslav Talijan presented Minister Stefanović with the 72nd Special Operations Brigade’s plaque as a token of their gratitude for supporting the unit’s strengthening and equipping.
