Minister Stefanović: The bombing of refugees is certainly not a European value
Statement by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD:
"It is simply unbelievable that anyone would keep silent about war crimes, and it is even more unbelievable that anyone would try to present such silence as a European Union value and impose it on others. Serbia strongly believes that every war criminal must be prosecuted, that it is completely in line with European values, and perfectly normal in the civilized world.
The bombing of refugees cannot be regarded as normal in any part of the world, regardless of whether it was committed by the pilots of a country that is a member of the European Union today. A war crime is a crime; nothing gives you the right to it, nor absolves you from it, whether you are Croatia or any other country. And Croatia obviously does not intend to face the crimes committed by its people, including those in Operation Storm.
Today, in the 21st century, the President of Croatia justifies the bombing of Serbia in Hitler’s time and encourages the resurgence of fascist ideas, which is more than monstrous and speaks for itself. It says that to this day, they have not faced the fact that the Nazi Independent State of Croatia will forever remain known for its attempts to exterminate the Serbian people, but also for the concentration camps for children, the only ones in Europe."
