Postage Stamps for Serbian Armed Forces Day
On the occasion of marking Serbian Armed Forces Day commemorative postage stamps were issued titled “Serbian Armed Forces Day”. The issue consists of postage stamps in a sheet of eight stamps with a vignette in the middle, first day cover (FDC) and appropriate watermark. The motifs on the stamp, vignette and cover are: King Aleksandar handing over regiment flags in Batajnica; Reveille on the St. George Day on Corfu in 1916; March-past of Serbian soldiers in Paris on 14th July 1919.
The expertise was provided by the Military Museum of Department for Tradition, Standards and Veterans of Human Resources Sector in the Ministry of Defence, and Colonel Dalibor Denda PhD from the Strategic Research Institute of the University of Defence. Graphic processing of the issue was done by Jakša Vlahović, the stamp designer in the Post of Serbia. The Serbian Armed Forces celebrate their holiday on 23rd April in memory of the day in 1815 when the Second Serbian Uprising broke which represents the milestone in the creation of modern Serbian state and military.
