Minister Stefanović Attended Gun Salute to Mark Day of Serbian Armed Forces
Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović PhD, attended a gun salute from artillery pieces to mark the Day of Serbian Armed Forces, which was performed by members of the Guard of the Serbian Armed Forces upon the order of the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić.
The gun salute of ten rounds was fired from six artillery pieces at Sava Plateau on Belgrade Fortress, which was preceded by raising the flag of the Republic of Serbia and playing the national anthem “Bože pravde“.
This year’s marking of the Day of Serbian Armed Forces, with gun salute, was made complete by the parade of River Flotilla vessels from the Ada Bridge to Pančevo Bridge headed by Flag Ship Kozara. Crews of auxiliary, multipurpose, patrol and landing boats saluted the citizens with the traditional manning the rails.
To mark the holiday, a flyby of Air Force and Air Defence aircraft ensued over the sky of the capital, when aeroplanes and helicopters of the Serbian Armed Forces greeted the gathered citizens. The ceremony was attended by Assistant Minister for Human Resources Katarina Tomašević, Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Petar Cvetković, Air Force and Air Defence Commander Lieutenant General Duško Žarković, Head of Operations Directorate J-3 of the General Staff Lieutenant General Želimir Glišović, the Guard Commander Brigadier General Nikola Dejanović, Head of Human Resources Directorate J-1 of the General Staff Brigadier General Savo Iriškić, Head of Private Office of the Minister of Defence Colonel Stevan Kotarlić, Deputy Head of Private Office of the Chief of General Staff Colonel Nebojša Cvetković and River Flotilla Commander Navy Captain Ljubiša Marković. The Day of Serbian Armed Forces – 23rd April is marked in honour of the beginning of the Second Serbian Uprising in 1815, which is considered to be the milestone in the creation of modern Serbian state and military.
