Regional Meeting of Gender Equality Mechanisms in Defence Systems
A Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces delegation, led by Assistant Minister for Human Resources Katarina Tomašević, has participated in the 14th regional meeting of the Gender Equality Mechanisms in the Ministries of Defence and the Armed Forces of the Western Balkans in Skopje.
The meeting was organized by UNDP SEESAC, as part of the project on the "Strengthening of Regional Cooperation on Gender Mainstreaming in Security Sector Reform in the Western Balkans", with the Ministries of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina participating.
The countries participating in the project presented their advancements in the promotion of gender equality since the last regional meeting, particularly after the Ministerial Conference held in Montenegro in December 2021, when the Declaration on Cooperation on Gender Mainstreaming in Defence Systems was signed between the four ministries.
The representatives of UNDP SEESAC also presented the results of a regional survey on the young people’s perception of military service in the Western Balkans. The research was based on the examination of values and attitudes influencing the professional orientation of young people.
