Exercise “Fire Shield 2022“ begins



The joint tactical live-fire exercise "Fire Shield 2022" has just begun at the “Pasuljanske Livade” Range. It is attended by the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, and Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović.
  The exercise is being conducted by a reinforced tactical group consisting of more than 1,000 members of the Army - mostly the Third Army Brigade personnel, Air Force and Air Defence, the 63rd Parachute Brigade and the 72nd Special Operations Brigade.
The joint tactical exercise, under the command of the 3rd Army Brigade Commander, Colonel Dragan Antić, is being conducted in order to enhance the capability of the Serbian Armed Forces commands and units to carry out defensive day and night operations on different types of terrain and in different weather conditions.
  The state and military leadership will be able to see the level of competence of SAF units for performing operations, actions and counter-actions using more than 100 combat means, including the ones developed by the Military Technical Institute and manufactured by the domestic defence industry. 
  MiG-29 aircraft, Mi-35 and H-145 helicopters, and "Pantsir S1" air defence artillery-missile systems will be used at tonight’s exercise. When it comes to the infantry weapons, T-72MS and M-84 tanks, M-80A infantry fighting vehicles, BRDM-2MS armoured reconnaissance vehicles, "Lazar 3" armoured combat vehicles, M-16 Miloš, POLO M-83, “Hummer”, 155mm "Nora B-52" self-propelled howitzer, and "Oganj" and "PLAMEN S" multiple rocket launchers will be used. The public will see the "Kornet" anti-tank guided missile system deliver fire for the first time.
The firepower of the newly developed domestic means such as - M-84AS1 tank, modernized M-80AB1 infantry fighting vehicle, "PASARS" artillery missile systems, "Sparrow" UAV, MRAP and BOV OT vehicles, modernized 122 mm “Gvozdika” self-propelled howitzer, modernized Armoured Command Post Vehicle, digital modular "Oganj", and "Miloš" V1 and VB2 unmanned platforms will be demonstrated at the exercise "Fire Shield 2022".
