Minister Stefanović visits family of killed Lieutenant Colonel Dejan Stanojević
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, has visited today the family of Lieutenant Colonel Dejan Stanojević who lost his life in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces have received the news of the death of the respectable, accomplished and committed officer, who professionally performed his tasks in the UN mission, representing our country with dignity.
Minister Stefanović said that the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces would provide necessary assistance to the family at this difficult time, and that they would keep alive the memory of Lieutenant Colonel Stanojević, an officer who made his family, his armed forces and his fatherland proud.
"In these difficult moments, I want us to show respect for the man who gave his life for the values and ideals of his country, serving on a mission that ensures peace", said Minister Stefanović.
Lieutenant Colonel Stanojević was killed when his helicopter crashed in the east of Congo while undertaking a regular aerial reconnaissance mission in the UN Organization Stabilization Mission in the DR Congo (MONUSCO).
Stanojević was born on December 22, 1979. He served in the Serbian Armed Forces since September 28, 2002, and was in the UN Organization Stabilization Mission in the DR Congo since October 24, 2021. He was awarded and commended several times in his successful military career, and he left behind a wife and two children.
