Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan signed with Cyprus
Assistant Minister for Defence Policy Predrag Bandić met today with Colonel Neofytos Pachoulides, Director of the “D” Branch for Organization, International Relations and Defence Planning, leading the National Guard of the Republic of Cyprus delegation, as part of expert talks held at the Ministry of Defence.
On that occasion, Assistant Minister Bandić pointed out the improvement in the quality and scope of defence cooperation in 2021 compared to previous years. He also expressed hope that in the coming period, the traditionally good and friendly relations between our two nations and armed forces would be confirmed through joint activities and cooperation.
During the meeting, Head of the International Military Cooperation Department, Colonel Nebojša Svjetlica, presented to Colonel Pachoulides and his delegation the structure and competencies of the International Military Cooperation Department, as well as the activities undertaken by the Ministry of Defence in order to support the achievement of foreign policy goals of the Republic of Serbia.
Colonel Svjetlica pointed out that defence cooperation was primarily reflected in high-level meetings and practical activities aimed at improving military to military and military-economic cooperation. According to him, the expert talks and the signing of the 2022 Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan provide an opportunity for the improvement of cooperation in the mutual interest.
According to Colonel Neofytos Pachoulides, expert talks are an excellent opportunity to discuss ways and modalities for developing defence cooperation. He expressed readiness to intensify defence cooperation and its contribution to building trust between the two armed forces.
During the analysis of last year’s cooperation and harmonization of this year’s activities, Lieutenant Colonel Boris Stojković from the Bilateral Military Cooperation Section said that the improvement of military to military cooperation was expected, particularly bearing in mind the agreement to hold staff talks in 2022.
