Minister Stefanović: Serbia led by Vučić is dedicated to peace and economic development
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović PhD, who is paying official visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, stated last evening in his statement for the RTS that Serbia led by President Aleksandar Vučić is dedicated to peace, economic development and desires to build a stable environment together with its neighbours and a better life for all the people who live in our part of Europe.
- I spoke with my colleague from the United Kingdom Secretary of State for Defence Ben Wallace about the enhancement of our strategic defence cooperation. For us, the cooperation with Great Britain is very important and we wish to advance what we have achieved so far and improve it in terms of training and exercises for our soldiers, cooperation in the field of CBRN to military and education cooperation – Minister Stefanović stated.
As he said, the contribution that the United Kingdom can offer to our economy is very significant for us, and this includes defence industry as well, which is why one of the topics of the talks were potential forms of cooperation in this field.
- We also talked about the participation in peacekeeping operations under the auspices of the United Nations and European Union, since it is a good area for our soldiers to gain experience and knowledge that modern armed forces possess. In that manner, we also increase the good reputation of our country and contribute to the peace in the world – Stefanović stated.
He pointed out that Serbia led by President Aleksandar Vučić remains dedicated to the stability and security of our region and that he informed Secretary of State for Defence Wallace and Stuart Peach, Special Envoy of the British Government for the Western Balkans about the president’s initiative “Open Balkans” and the project that the initiative includes.
- These are important projects, and they show that Serbia is dedicated to peace, committed to strengthening economy, and that it desires to build a stable environment with its neighbours and a better life of all people who live in our part of Europe – the minister of defence said.
