St. Sava Martial Arts Tournament
Today, 72nd Special Operations Brigade organised Saint Sava Martial Arts Tournament in barracks “Rastko Nemanjić” in Pančevo.
The fighting tournament has been organised since 2019, with the participation of members of special units of the Serbian Armed Forces, cadets of the Military Academy and athletes from the association of martial arts sports of Serbia. This year, due to the current epidemiological situation, the tournament was organised only for the members of 72nd Special Operations Brigade.
The competitors demonstrated their skills in boxing and kick-boxing, and the most successful, among five competition teams, was the team of the Special Operations Battalion “Hawks”.
The training in martial arts represents an everyday segment of the training for the members of 72nd Special Operations Brigade which develops self-confidence and persistence, and most importantly, the capability to adequately and timely react in situations they may find themselves in during the execution of assigned tasks. That is one of the preconditions for high quality execution of the tasks of special units primarily deep behind enemy lines.
