Journalist of “Politika” Milan Galović Receives Award “Ivan Marković”
Journalist award “Ivan Marković”, presented on the occasion of the Day of Media Centre “Odbrana” of Department for Public Relations of the Ministry of Defence, was given for the year 2021 to went to Milan Galović for the text “Pantsirs” protect the sky of Serbia day and night, published in daily newspaper “Politika” on 12th August 2021.
The panel reviewed 15 coverages from 12 news agencies, and in line with the Rule Book on awarding the reward, decided to give this renowned recognition to Milan Galović.
In the rationale of the Decision it is stated that the “credibility of the position transformed into the written word is a measure for true importance of a newspaper text. With his continuous and impartial reporting on defence system Milan Galović proves that. He proved it with the text on the Third Missile Battalion of 250th Air Defence Missile Brigade announced on the front page of “Politika”. The panel is unanimous in the assessment that a particular quality of this text, apart from confirmed and correct information, is given by the reporter’s approach to the topic, where readers participate and follow the reporter throughout his entire stay in the Third Battalion, and in that direct approach of Galović, readers get impression that they participate in his impressions and conversations with interlocutors.
Unobtrusively, Galović leads his coverage along the subtle line of the suggestibility of the experienced. It is precisely that journalistic skill that is highly valued at the competition for the journalist award “Ivan Marković” for the year 2021.
This year the panel that awarded the journalist award “Ivan Marković” was chaired by Nebojša Milosavljević, Head of Media Division in Department for Public Relations, while the members of the panel were Dragana Marković, Editor in Chief of “Odbrana”, Biljana Miljić, Head of the Group for Media Coverage of Department for Public Relations, Vladimir Vještić, journalist in the magazine “Odbrana” and Captain First Class Vladimir Milovanović, Public relations officer in the Guard of the Serbian Armed Forces.
The journalist award “Ivan Marković” will be presented to the journalist of the daily newspaper “Politika” at traditional ceremony held on the occasion of celebrating 24th January, Day of the Media Centre “Odbrana”.
The journalist award “Ivan Marković” is a unique motivation for journalists who follow the activities of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces for their high quality reporting in national written and electronic media, and it is also an affirmation and public verification of their creative work and the memory of Ivan Marković, one of the most gifted military journalists and editors of the magazine “Odbrana” who suddenly died in 2003 at the age of 43.
