Preparation of Combat Vehicle Drivers for Participation in Peacekeeping Operation



The Army Training Centre is conducting training in driving combat vehicles for a part of members of an infantry unit from the Serbian Armed Forces which is undergoing preparations for the participation in the peacekeeping operation of the United Nations in Lebanon.

The fifteen-day long training on armoured combat vehicle is underwent by professional soldiers who will, in this mission, perform the duties of drivers of military police vehicle VPB M-86.

In this phase of the training, the drivers are practicing the techniques of driving combat vehicles in the field, after they successfully completed a theoretic part and test of knowledge in terms of characteristics, special systems and devices of the armoured combat vehicles.

Precise driving of the vehicles in different terrains, overcoming obstacles, driving by night in difficult weather conditions, driving on slopes, and elimination of possible break downs and assets maintenance represent a part of the training for drivers in peacekeeping missions.

The soldiers are yet to pass a test and check of competence, after which they will apply and upgrade the acquired knowledge and skills of driving combat vehicles during collective training of the infantry company for the participation in the peacekeeping operation of the United Nations in Lebanon.
