Minister Stefanović: 10 per cent salary increase for members of the Guard

Today, addressing the media at a press conference that followed the briefing on the results of the analysis of the state, operational and functional capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces in 2021, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović PhD announced that the salaries for members of the Guard of the Serbian Armed Forces would be increased by new 10 per cent.

- I have informed President Vučić that the Ministry of Defence in agreement with the General Staff assessed the level of workload of the units and their position and manning, and that we have found resources in our budget, which means that we will not asks for additional funds, to increase the salaries of the soldiers of the Guard units. The Guard is a unit that is particularly burdened, since it has a vast number of tasks throughout the year. I myself had not believed until I saw what it was that the Guard did throughout a year, and that work does not only include protocol duties, which is something that the citizens usually see, but they work a lot and have many complex tasks. Their salaries will be increased by new 10 per cent, because we want to show our respect for all those men, especially because they are stationed in Belgrade where the prices are significantly higher, and the costs of life are considerably higher, therefore, that increase will enable them a more comfortable life – Minister Stefanović pointed out.
