Minister Stefanović: New announcements of the creation of the so-called Kosovo Armed Forces speak about their preparations for a new destabilization

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, has stated today that new announcements of the creation of the so-called Kosovo Armed Forces and their strengthening in terms of equipment and funding spark off unrest, both in our southern province and in the region. He has called on all international actors to warn Pristina's interim authorities not to do so.
- We have already seen in recent months and years that such activities are mainly meant to threaten Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija. Unfortunately, Resolution 1244 is not implemented consistently and not all the actors acknowledge the fact that KFOR is the only legitimate armed formation in Kosovo and Metohija - said the Minister.

According to him, Pristina's announcements that the so-called Kosovo Armed Forces will intensify their efforts and increase funds for the provision of equipment speak about their preparations for a new destabilization.

- It is time to call on all international actors, the EU and all members of the United Nations Security Council to warn the Pristina authorities not to do so, because these are threats to stability and security in this part of Europe. Serbia, led by President Vučić, is committed to peace and creating opportunities for us all to live a normal life, but we will, of course, demand compliance with international law and Resolution 1244 on our territory, including our southern province - said Stefanović.

It is very important for us, he emphasized, that Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija feel safe and secure, which has not been the case recently.

- Announcements coming from Pristina undermine stability and they cannot bring anything good to the citizens living on our territory. We are committed to peace and we want it to be kept. That is why we are strengthening our armed forces, so that they are an effective deterrent against any attempts to compromise the security of the Republic of Serbia, but, of course, never endangering anyone else, as we have never done in our history – the Minister of Defence stated.
