General Staff Talks between Serbian Armed Forces and Armed Forces of Russian Federation
This week, a high delegation of the Serbian Armed Forces is paying an official visit to the Russian Federation for the conduct of general staff talks.
The host of the meeting is Deputy Chief of the Main Operations Directorate of the Russian Federation Armed Forces General Staff, Lieutenant General Viktor Viktorovich Poznihir, while our delegation is headed by Chief of Operations Department (J-3) of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff Major General Želimir Glišović.
During the talks of the delegations in the Russian General Staff headquarters in Moscow, the interlocutors analysed the hitherto bilateral military cooperation, politico-security situation in the region and world and they defined the modalities for the enhancement of military-to-military cooperation with the focus on joint exercises and training.
The general staff talks of representatives of the Serbian Armed Forces and Armed Forces of the Russian Federation were established in 2014 and since then, they have been held once a year, alternately in Serbia and Russia. This is the first time that the talks have been held at the level of operations departments of the two general staffs which gives a new quality to the process of planning the military-to-military cooperation.
During its stay in the Russian Federation, the delegation of the Serbian Armed Forces will also visit the Patriot Congress and Exhibition Centre, the Central Museum and the Main Temple of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
