Meeting of Minister Stefanović with Ambassador of France



Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović PhD met newly appointed Ambassador of the French Republic Pierre Cochard and they talked on defence cooperation between the two countries.
 
Minister Stefanović bid welcome to Ambassador Cochard and wished him success during his tenure. Expressing the satisfaction with the achieved level of defence cooperation, the minister assessed that the quality and quantity of executed activities kept pace with the overall relations of the two countries, and that frequent meetings and friendly relations between presidents Aleksandar Vučić and Emmanuel Macron contributed to its continuous further development. He pointed out that the agreements that had been concluded so far in the military technical and military economic segments, confirmed the high level of cooperation and he expressed his expectation that new, planned contracts on the procurement of arms and military equipment would be concluded by the end of the year.
 
Ambassador Cochard concurred with the stated need to further enhance the cooperation including military economic and military technical cooperation. He expressed his satisfaction with the symbolical commencement of his mandate as the Ambassador in the Republic of Serbia that started with the commemoration of the Armistice Day, which reminds of the time of making alliances and peace that are indispensable for the progress and development of  humankind. Cochard confirmed the support to European integration of the Republic of Serbia and underlined that the main guidelines were soon to be presented in the framework of the presidency of the French Republic of the EU in the first half of 2022.
