Congratulatory message on Veterans Day from the President of the Republic Aleksandar Vučić
The President of the Republic and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of Veterans Day, which reads:
“I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to all veterans on December 4 – Veterans Day.
Today, we are traditionally celebrating one of the biggest military holidays, in memory of 1912 and the signing of armistice in the First Balkan War, which is an important historical event in Serbia’s liberation wars.
Like our ancestors before you, you have won countless battles for life, freedom, the right to vote and our homeland. The names of great Serbian warriors and heroes who fought to preserve the national identity, Serbian statehood and the armed forces, guided by faith in the liberation of Serbia, were inscribed in history during the First World War, Second World War and the most recent wars, which are no less painful for us.
By celebrating today's holiday, we show that we do not let you fade into oblivion, but show you respect, appreciating every individual who makes a country strong, as well as its military, which is one of the pillars of stability of a successful state.
Dear veterans,
I wish you a happy holiday and I promise that the state will keep on striving to improve the lives of veterans throughout the Republic of Serbia!"
