New issue of "ODBRANA"

Over the past month, a series of activities aimed at further strengthening the armed forces in all fields, was undertaken. Training, cooperation aimed at improving interoperability, modernization and equipping, establishing contacts in the field of international military cooperation - are just some of the important activities undertaken by the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, which are presented in the IN FOCUS section.

On the occasion of the Army Day, the STANDING POINT section shares a story about the current situation in that service, which changes day by day, due to the formation of new garrisons and units and innovations in the fields of training and modernization.

In order to meet readers’ expectations, the SYSTEM section offers a series of informative and carefully selected texts, illustrated with excellent photographs by our photojournalists. The section opens with a story about the Third Army Brigade’s Engineer Battalion, noting that it is difficult to enumerate all the places, training grounds and military facilities where the officers and soldiers of the Prokuplje Engineer Battalion have performed complex engineering and pyrotechnic work. There is also a story about how the airmen helped the Diocese of Mileševa by placing the Holy Cross on the hill above the Mileševa Monastery, thus proving once again the commitment of our armed forces to our tradition and people.  In the SYSTEM section, you can find out how the second part of the "Tetris Challenge" went in the 98th Air Brigade, which also marked its Day during the past month, i.e. what this unit’s helicopters look like "from above”. You can also read the story by Lieutenant Colonel Dragan Pamučar, PhD, one of the world's most influential and cited experts in the field of operational research, particularly in the fields of logistics and transport. There is also an account of the officers’ training course on cooperation with the media, organized by the Public Relations Department, the story about the Serbian Armed Forces’ Traffic Service, which is an important factor in operational capability, and the Aero Medical Institute, whose personnel is constantly with pilots and airmen, teaching them how to meet the challenges of this exciting profession.

Odbrana’s MILITARY TECHNOLOGY section contains a text about "Dubai Airshow 2021", one of the most prestigious aerospace industry events in the world, which was held November 14-18 in the United Arab Emirates. In the GLOBAL section, you can read about the "Infantry on the sea waves", a special branch of naval forces, i.e. a special form of infantry units used in naval operations or as strike force in other forms of combat action.

In the CULTURE section, find out about the Belgrade premiere of the film "Seven Thousand Souls", a shocking testimony to the suffering of Serbian and Russian soldiers and civilian internees in the Austro-Hungarian Jindřichovice and Braunau concentration camps, located in today's Czech Republic. There is also a text announcing the December exhibition of Petar Lubarda’s works in the Central Military Club Gallery, and an article about the "Sava" river monitor, a unique "Museum on the Waves".

The "PORTRAIT" section of the December issue of "Odbrana" contains a story "about patriotism, aviation and humanity" with Zorana Pavić, and there is also a text entitled "Heroes are a Part of Us", published on the occasion of the Veterans Day. In the HISTORY section, we recommend a text about a unique action in the history of the Military Geographical Institute which took place 30 years ago - the relocation of the Institute’s printing house from Sarajevo, and a shocking book about Serbian prisoners of war in the First World War entitled "Chronology of 72,553 Deaths".
