73rd anniversary of “Zastava Film“ Military Film Centre marked
The “Zastava Film“ Military Film Centre, an institution subordinate to the Public Relations Department, Ministry of Defence, marked its 73rd work anniversary today.
Colonel Mihailo Zogović, Head of the Public Relations Department, congratulated members of the “Zastava Film” on their anniversary and praised them for carrying out all their news and filming tasks this year, amidst the complex Covid-19 conditions.
– “Zastava Film“ is an institution whose work and achievements are the pride of not only the Public Relations Department, but the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in general. The Public Relations Department will continue to actively support and participate in the development of all Zastava’s projects, from initial concept to realization – Colonel Zogović said.
On the occasion of November 14, the "Zastava Film" Military Film Centre Day, by order of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, Director of “Zastava Film” Goran Ikonić gained an early promotion to the rank of colonel due to exceptional service.
Colonel Ikonić thanked the Minister of Defence for the promotion, saying that this is proof that the dedication and hard work of members of the Military Film Centre, including himself, as the director, have been recognized.
- We are extremely proud of ourselves for making a visible contribution to the media activities that the Ministry of Defence and the Public Relations Department undertake to promote the defence system to the public. One of the most recent ones was the great premiere of the film entitled "They Defended the Sky of the Fatherland", which received favourable reviews from the professional public and presented the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in the best way as true guardians of the tradition and rich history of our country - said Ikonić.
The celebration of Zastava Film’s anniversary was an opportunity for the institution to thank and pay tribute to the institutions and individuals who contributed to its work over the past year.
The celebration was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces’ organizational units and numerous cultural institutions.
The history of "Zastava Film” began on November 14, 1948, when the Yugoslav Army’s Film Production Department was formed in Belgrade. The "Zastava Film" Military Film Centre was given its current name in 1962, and since its first works until today, this institution has been a credible witness and chronicler of events in the life of the military.
