Bilateral Defence Consultations between Republic of Serbia and United States
The seventh Bilateral Defence Consultations between the Republic of Serbia and the United States were held today in Belgrade.
The Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces delegation was led by the Acting Assistant Minister for Defence Policy, Mr. Predrag Bandić, and the United States Armed Forces delegation was led by Mr. Nate Adler, performing duties of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia.
It was pointed out that the Bilateral Defence Consultations have been re-established after a five-year break and that they are an opportunity to identify future forms of cooperation. The interlocutors agreed that it is an opportunity for the two sides to present opportunities for co-operation in various fields, such as joint training, exercises and procurement of weapons and military equipment. The importance of continued development of the Multinational Operations Training Centre in the "South" base was emphasized, as well as further improvement of military medical cooperation and Serbia’s participation in the Balkan Medical Task Force, which is an important concept of regional cooperation.
During the 7th Bilateral Defence Consultations, representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and the United States Armed Forces presented reviews of the cooperation so far and agreed on modalities of further improvement of defence cooperation, which are of mutual interest and can improve overall bilateral relations.
