Finance Service Day marked



The Finance Service Day and the 77th anniversary of its establishment in the Serbian Armed Forces were marked today at the Guard Club in Topčider.  

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD and the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović extended congratulations to members of the finance service, and State Secretary Branko Živanović wished a lot of success to everyone present.

- Based on the State Audit Office’s report, I can say that we are one of the institutions with the best financial accounting and payment systems. That is why I am very pleased to have the honour and opportunity to share and exchange opinions with you and that we can improve our knowledge and gain additional experience together, which will help us improve the defence system in the coming period - State Secretary Živanović said.

Speaking about the finance service’s contribution to the defence system, State Secretary Živanović announced novelties, including payroll management and accounting software, that will make the work of the employees in that service easier.
Members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces who showed exceptional commitment over the past year received awards, which were presented to them by State Secretary Živanović.

Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Milica Ćatić, Assistant Minister for Human Resources Katarina Tomašević, Rector of the Defence University Lieutenant General Goran Radovanović, Head of the Military Office of the President of the Republic Brigadier General Siniša Kresović, Inspector General of the Services Brigadier General Slavoljub Dabić and Acting Head of the Military Health Department, Colonel Radivoje Anđelković, also attended today's ceremony.
The Finance Service Day is celebrated on November 8, in memory of the day when the Finance Department of the National Defence Commissariat was established in 1944, becoming the main finance authority for the entire Yugoslav People's Liberation Army.  In this way, the finance service was established as a separate service within the military organization, for the first time.
