Minister Stefanović presents military commemorative medal to Spanish General Martínez-Falero
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, who is on an official visit to Spain, presented today a military commemorative medal to Brigadier General José Luis Sánchez Martínez-Falero for his contribution to the defence system of the Republic of Serbia.
The medal was awarded to General Martínez-Falero in recognition of the tremendous help he provided to the Serbian contingent in maintaining their level of operational capabilities, during his command of UNIFIL's Sector East.
Presenting General Martínez-Falero with the medal at the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Madrid, Minister Stefanović thanked the Spanish brigadier general for his genuine commitment to strengthening ties between the two armies and, above all, for the strong support he provided to members of the Serbian Armed Forces in UNIFIL, helping them to carry out all their tasks successfully.Minister Stefanović said that, in so doing, the general made a significant contribution to the international promotion of the Serbian Armed Forces and building up the reputation of our country.
- It was very easy to work with 142 soldiers, who made up the Serbian contingent. They are top professionals, very disciplined, well-trained and motivated. I am really proud of the Serbian soldiers who were under my command during those six months, and I am extremely proud of being awarded this medal. Thank you very much - said General Martínez-Falero.
