Presentation of results of Government’s first year in office
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, attended today the presentation of results of the Governmnet’s first year in office, held in the Palace of Serbia. According to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, the Government has been faced with great challenges and it has worked in very difficult circumstances, but she is satisfied, because economic stability has been preserved.
According to her, the biggest challenges her Cabinet has faced over the past year have been the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, instability caused by Pristina's provocations and attacks on Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, but also the unexpected energy crisis that took place in parallel with the pandemic, which is an additional, huge blow to the economy.- I am satisfied with the results. I think that the citizens should also be satisfied, because we have preserved economic stability, jobs in the first place. In our country, unlike other countries in the world, unemployment has not increased, employment has, we have an increased inflow of foreign investment, salaries and pensions have increased, we have continued with infrastructure projects - Prime Minister Brnabić said.
The Prime Minister said that it was expected that the Covid-19 pandemic would be halted during 2021, but that this has not been the case. However, she pointed out, the situation is very different compared to last year, because we now have the vaccine.
- In parallel with the pandemic, the energy crisis of unprecedented proportions began, which no one had expected, which is a blow to the world economy and is naturally felt in our country as well - said the Prime Minister.
Emphasizing that the Government was also faced with instability caused by the behaviour of the temporary Pristina institutions, Brnabić said that the Government had a huge help and support from President Aleksandar Vučić in dealing with the problems related to the southern Serbian province.- I believe that our results show that we have done our best in difficult circumstances, that we have fought heart and soul for Serbia, for all our citizens and for our people, and that despite difficult circumstances, we have managed to achieve impressive results and that we will continue to work like this until the end of this Government’s term - said Prime Minister Brnabić at the end of her address, thanking all the Cabinet ministers.
