Public Relations Course completed
Eleven members of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces attended a five-day Public Relations Officers Course, organised by the Department for Public Relations, which was completed today in the Central Military Club in Belgrade with a ceremonial presentation of certificates of successful completion of the course.
Addressing the present, Head of Department for Public Relations Colonel Mihailo Zogović PhD assessed that the content of the course offers a high quality technical basis to public relations officers to perform their organic duties in units, commands and establishments of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces.
- You had an opportunity to observe the specificities of the place and role of the Public Relations Department, and the complexity of the system that possesses functional links from the strategic to lower tactical level. The lectures and exercises in communication skills and production of media content have helped you to cooperate with media in a better way and provide more competent advice to decision makers in your organisational units when it comes to public relations issues – Colonel Zogović pointed out.
He stressed that continuous professional advancement of personnel dealing with public relations within the system was extremely important and he expressed his expectation that a majority of the attenders of Basic Public Relations Course would, in the years to come, attend higher levels of advancement organised by the Department.
The Basic Public Relations Course consisted of four segments. In the first segment the attenders are informed about theoretic fundamentals of communication, media and public relations. The second segment relates to the organisation and functioning of public relations system in the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces, while the third segment consisted of lectures and exercises in writing news and reports, and the production of photographs and short video content. The fourth group of lectures and exercises dealt with the development of communication skills to be used by the attenders in their public appearances.
