Meeting between Minister Stefanovic and Chinese Ambassador Chen Bo
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, talked to the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China Chen Bo about defence cooperation between the two countries, which he described as intensive and developed, filled with an increasing number of activities each year.
Stefanović expressed great satisfaction with the extremely developed military-economic and military-technical cooperation between the two countries, as well as gratitude for numerous donations sent by the People's Republic of China to the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, and the Republic of Serbia in general, since the beginning of Covid-19 pandemic.
He also thanked China for the firm and unwavering support it provides to the Republic of Serbia in preserving its territorial integrity and sovereignty, and for China’s special support in the UN Security Council. Such support, the Minister of Defence said, is of vital importance in situations when the Serbian population in Kosovo and Metohija is under great pressure from the temporary Pristina institutions.
According to Stefanović, the traditionally friendly relations between Serbia and China are based on mutual respect and esteem.
At the beginning of the meeting, Ambassador Chen Bo said that the good relations between the two countries in the field of defence are an excellent indicator of the strategic partnership between Serbia and China. According to her, the relations between our countries are based on friendship and partnership, and that is visible in politics, defence, science, medicine and economy.
During the talks, Ambassador Chen Bo conveyed China’s support for Serbia's legitimate demands regarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity, with a special emphasis on the protection of the Serbian population in Kosovo and Metohija. Unfortunately, she added, the latest events at the administrative crossings show that one side is not interested in dialogue and finding a peaceful solution.
