Minister Stefanović: Shameful campaign against President Vučić aimed at weakening the position of the Serbian people
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović's statement:
"The campaign that is currently being waged against Aleksandar Vučić, the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and all the people who are fighting for Serbia to remain independent, sovereign and a country that makes its own decisions, exclusively in the interest of its people, is not accidental. And it is no coincidence that such attacks take place when the President has the most difficult meetings, when he is fighting for our Kosovo and Metohija and when our people are under enormous pressure.
The unspeakable lies that Dragan Đilas, Marinika Tepić and the like spread about Aleksandar Vučić every day, with the sole purpose of seizing power, and trying to cover up the fact that they plundered their own country, weakened our armed forces and helped Kosovo Albanians achieve their goals more easily, to the detriment of Serbia, are just a continuation of the campaign against President Vučić. They are talking a load of nonsense, things proven to be lies a thousand times, in a difficult moment for our country and people, when President Vučić is trying to defend our sovereignty in impossible conditions left to us by Đilas, Marinika, Tadić, Jeremić and the like. Instead of being with their country and their people, especially those living in Kosovo and Metohija, they are currently attacking the President of Serbia and the Director of the Military Security Agency and all others who are fighting, trying to weaken the position of the Serbian people, telling lies about alleged smuggling and sale of the weapons used by the armed forces.
If you compare the situation in the Serbian Armed Forces before Aleksandar Vučić came to power and the condition of our weapons and equipment today, you will see that thanks to the President of Serbia, the situation in our armed forces is so much better and all relevant international factors recognize and appreciate that, but also those who do not rejoice at Serbia’s success at all. New Lazar and Miloš systems, new tanks, Pantsir air defence systems, MRAPs and PASARS, upgraded multiple rocket launchers, modern helicopters and a renewed fleet of MiG-29s are just some of the things that our soldiers use today that were unthinkable a few years ago. And it is obvious that President Vučić’s success bothers many outside this country, but also Đilas and his employees.
General Đuro Jovanić did not receive an apartment as a gift, nor did he do anything illegal, as evidenced by numerous reports by external and internal bodies supervising the work of the Military Security Agency. The attacks against him are only motivated by the fact that he spent part of his career with President Vučić, which only does him credit, but also because he is a part of the armed forces which are growing stronger every day and are a key security factor for all our citizens. I support the work of Đuro Jovanić and the professionals working for the Military Security Agency and I advise them to just continue doing their job honestly and patriotically as before.
I feel sorry for President Vučić who has to endure salvos of lies and insults every day, only because he is fighting for Serbia, but I am sure that people can see and appreciate that fight, just as they see through Đilas' lies, no matter who utters them. "
