Joint SAF and U.S. Armed Forces’ exercise
A bilateral SAF and U.S. Armed Forces’ tactical training exercise "Sky Bridge 21" is being conducted this week at the "Sergeant-pilot Mihajlo Petrović" military airport in Niš and in the wider area of Leskovac.
Members of the Serbian Armed Forces’ 63rd Parachute Brigade and the U.S. Armed Forces’ 173rd Airborne Brigade are participating in the exercise designed to improve interoperability and mutual understanding at the tactical level during aerial operations to deliver humanitarian aid.
Paratroopers practice tactics, techniques and procedures for performing special and regular parachute landings, parachuting cargo from aircraft, and securing the landing area. More than 150 paratroopers are taking part in the exercise, and Serbian An-26 transport aircraft and U.S. C-130 Hercules aircraft are being used to perform parachute jumps and drop cargo.
By conducting such exercises, members of the Serbian Armed Forces exchange knowledge and experience with members of the armed forces of partner countries and improve their ability to perform specific tasks in operations to provide assistance to crisis-affected populations and in multinational peace support operations.
