215th anniversary of Battle of Mišar marked
A delegation representing the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces laid a wreath today at the monument to Karađorđe and the heroes of Mišar, as part of the celebration of the 215th anniversary of the Battle of Mišar, in the village of Mišar near Šabac.
The Battle of Mišar, which took place on August 13, 1806, was one of the most significant victories won by the Serbian rebels over the Ottoman army.Led by Grand Leader Karađorđe and prominent rebel leaders of the Šabac and Valjevo region, the Serbs won and thus strengthened the rebels’ position and dramatically endangered the Turks’ status in the Belgrade pashalik.
