Meeting of President Vučić with Minister Stefanović and Chief of General Staff, General Mojsilović
President Vučić: The Serbian Armed Forces will protect and safeguard our country at all times
The President of the Republic and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, met today at the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, the Chief of the General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, and top military officers.
After the meeting, President Vučić pointed out that they had reviewed the capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces and what was necessary to improve the combat readiness and operational capabilities of the armed forces.
- We still have a lot to do given the fact that all the countries in the region are arming themselves dramatically. It is our obligation to always have enough strength, enough strength to protect and safeguard our country, and the Serbian Armed Forces will be able to do that, at all times. We still have a lot to do, especially when it comes to night combat, we have to procure additional optoelectronic devices, new, modern equipment and Air Force and Air Defence weapons, and we still have a lot to do in terms of further strengthening our infantry units - President Vučić said.
He pointed out that the meeting also discussed a closer cooperation with the domestic military factories.
- We focused on a more active involvement of our military factories, with which the Ministry of Defence will hold additional and special talks. We do not shy away from investing substantial amounts of money in the coming period, but the delivery has to be different, more responsible, and larger in the coming period - said the President of the Republic.
President Vučić says that we are in a very complex environment and a complex political situation, and that is exactly why the Serbian Armed Forces are necessary as a guarantor of peace and stability and a deterrent against attacks on our country.
- I believe that people will be satisfied with the huge investment in our armed forces that has not been made since the 70s and 80s, and we are proud of that. We will continue doing that without endangering anyone, and as always, aiming to preserve peace and promote economic development. Economic development provides a better material position for soldiers, and I believe that we will manage to improve it by the end of the year through additional salary increases, but also through additional purchases of military equipment and weapons, and by strengthening the Serbian Armed Forces. Today, I am grateful to all the generals who participated in the discussion, dialogue and presentation, and I believe that in the coming period, people will be able to see and rejoice in an even greater strength of our armed forces - President Vučić said.
