Minister Stefanović arrives in Egypt for an official visit
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, arrived today for a three-day official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt at the invitation of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production, Lieutenant General Mohamed Ahmed Zaki. Minister Stefanović was welcomed at the Cairo airport by the Commander of the Central Military Region, Major General Khaled Ahmed, the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Egypt, Jugoslav Vukadinović, and the military attaché, Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Bogdanović.
A meeting between Ministers Stefanović and Zaki is scheduled for tomorrow, after which the two officials will sign a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in the field of defence, which will create conditions for further development and improvement of relations between Serbia and Egypt.
Minister Stefanović will lay wreaths tomorrow at the Unknown Soldier Memorial and at the tomb of Egyptian President Sadat in Cairo, and he will have the opportunity to visit the “6th of October Panorama” Memorial.
On the third day of the visit, the delegation representing the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia will visit one of the Egyptian defence industry factories, the International Medical Centre and a special operations ranger unit, Task Force 777.
The Serbian delegation led by the Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, also includes State Secretary Branko Živanović, Assistant Minister for Material Resources Nenad Miloradović, PhD, Head of the Intelligence and Reconnaissance Department of the SAF General Staff, Brigadier General Miroljub Čupić and Deputy Head of the Military Health Department, Colonel Dr Radivoje Andjelković.
Simultaneously with the official ministerial visit, the 13th session of the Joint Military Committee of the Ministries of Defence of the Republic of Serbia and the Arab Republic of Egypt is being held, at which issues of mutual interest in the field of military to military, military-economic, scientific and technical, military-medical and military educational cooperation are being harmonized.
