Acting Assistant Minister Bandić Visiting the UN Mission in Cyprus
Acting Assistant Minister for Defence Policy Predrag Bandić stayed in an official visit to United Nations peacekeeping mission (UNFICYP) in Cyprus where he met Special Representative of Secretary General and Head of Mission Elizabeth Spehar and Force Commander Major General Ingrid Gjerde.
During the talks, the interlocutors considered the overall situation in the zone of delineation between the two conflicted sides, and the contribution of the Republic of Serbia to the United Nations peacekeeping force. The Assistant Minister Bandić underlined the importance of the participation in the UNFICYP mission and pointed out the significance of the establishment and enhancement of the cooperation between Serbian and British contingents.
Following a three-year long break, since April this year and on the basis of the Agreement with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Serbian Armed Forces have engaged one Military Police Section apart from staff officers.
During the official part of the visit, which is being carried out in coordination with the Defence Attaché’s Office of the UK in Belgrade, Assistant Minister Bandić talked to the members of Serbian contingent in the mission in Cyprus.
