Vidovdan Concert of Ensemble “Binički” in Banjaluka
Last night, Vidovdan was marked with a joint performance of the Artistic Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence “Stanislav Binički” and Police Orchestra of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Srpska that took place on the Krajina Square in Banjaluka.
The concert under slogan “With big heart…” was held to honour the great holiday that symbolises patriotism, freedom and heroism, and it was organised under the patronage of President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović, who attended the concert.
A rich and diverse programme was prepared by the heads of the orchestras Major Nikola Živković and Jelena Atlagić, in coordination with conductors Katarina Božić and Dušan Pokrajčić. Vocal soloist was Ilija Baroš, while Major Duško Stamenković and Saša Radonjić played the clarinet, and Nenad Ninković, Alan Husein and Benjamin Drijenčić played the trumpet. The guests of the concert were members of ethno-group “Iva”.
At the beginning of the concert the hymn of the Republic of Srpska “Moja Republika” and the hymn of Serbia “Bože Pravde” were played, which was followed by well-known Serbian marches that were welcomed by the audience with great exhilaration. The enjoyment continued with the rhythm of Serbian traditional and patriotic music, from the compositions “Miloš the Great” and “King Peter’s Guard Marched” to the Songs of military branches and from the south of Serbia, to the songs “My Milan”, “Strapping lads danced” and “This is Serbia” and all the songs were followed by thunderous applause.
The next segment was reserved for popular music and superb performance of national and world hits. Still, feeling the pulse and wishes of the audience, the performers left for the end the compositions that are always called for encore: March to the River Drina, Vidovdan and Breaking Dawn. In an exceptionally cheerful and inspired atmosphere, the programme was ended with yet another performance of the March to the River Drina, but the celebration of Vidovdan continued with a social gathering with numerous praises for the performers.
These two orchestras established their cooperation three years ago from the very set up of the Police Orchestra of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Srpska, and until now it consisted of the exchange of musical notes and arrangements, having in mind that the situation caused by Corona outbreak hindered their plans for joint appearances. Leaders of both orchestras hope that new opportunities will appear allowing for more intensive cooperation and numerous joint performances.
